Opportunity for a hands-on researcher who has applied a multi-disciplinary approach to identifying and understanding a previously little known or poorly characterized ion channel. Experience with ENaC or other monovalent cationic channels is a plus! Candidates should have a PhD and 2-3 years of postdoctoral experience. Industry experience is nice but NOT required! Strong electrophysiology is similarly NOT required. The ideal candidate will have designed a strategic approach to elucidating protein channel identification and function.

Are you a cancer biologist by training and passion? A focus on epigenetics or tumor cell metabolism is a PLUS! Experience with primary human cells or in vivo models is also a plus. A talented researcher is needed to lead a team focused on assay development for small molecules which target oncology signaling pathways. To be considered, you should have experience in the design, validation, and execution of both cell-based assays and biochemical assays, and kinetic characterization of enzyme inhibitors. Experience with assay automation, working with CROs, and epigenetics is a plus! PATENT ATTORNEY (OR AGENT)

Want a promising future with a chance to build multiple aspects of your career?  This west coast small molecule therapeutic company has an opportunity for a midlevel in-house, legal counsel.  This position involves the drafting and prosecution of pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications (U.S. and international) and counseling on a variety of intellectual property issues.  In addition, the position involves performing and overseeing a range of the other legal matters pertaining to the organization, including legal policies, agreements, intellectual property matters (patents, trademarks and copyrights) and coordinating all legal matters handled by outside counsel.

The primary duties include:

  • Writing, filing, and prosecuting patents.
  • Working with Research and Development personnel, particularly the chemistry teams, to develop and protect Company inventions.
  • Interact with other parties (Corporations, Academia, Research Institutes, etc.) to secure licenses to novel IP needed by Company to extend its patent portfolio and facilitate its business plans.
  • Managing agreement and IP issues for company partnered programs.

Qualifications
At least two to five years experience in intellectual property/legal in the pharmaceutical industry.  Requires registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  A background in organic chemistry is required (advanced degree preferred) as well as experience drafting and prosecuting small molecule inhibitor patent applications.   You will need to be a strategic/analytical thinker who can plan, direct and build for the future.  An energetic self-starter who can manage their time, communicate well, and work successfully with varied audiences would thrive in this environment.
