*NEW* Remote Regulatory Technical Expert- GMOs

Are you ready to dive into a pivotal role where you’ll revolutionize public health by spearheading the development and governance of innovative genetic biocontrol technologies?

We are looking for an experienced technical expert on regulation and policy. You will join a groundbreaking collaborative that works to support coordination among stakeholders to develop and share scientific information, best practices, and guidance for the responsible research, development, and potential implementation of genetic biocontrol technologies to combat vector-borne diseases and improve public health.

This position will keep you ahead of the curve on genetic biocontrol regulations as you advise stakeholders, design and deliver training sessions, and collaborate on groundbreaking projects with global partners in an organization has many years of success in public-private partnerships unites government, academia, life sciences, and patient advocacy to tackle the world’s toughest health challenges.

The primary duties include:

  • Monitoring and staying current on global and local regulations and guidelines related to synthetic biology, genetically modified organisms, and gene drive methods, with an emphasis on regions in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Offering expert advice and information on relevant regulatory and policy issues to various stakeholders, including developers and partners involved in capacity-building.
  • Creating and conducting both online and in-person training sessions and producing informational materials in collaboration with partner organizations.
  • Overseeing contracts with partners to conduct independent risk assessments and other related activities.
  • Identifying key regulatory and policy issues, promoting awareness of these priorities, and planning team initiatives to address them.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective and respectful relationships with both internal and external colleagues.


  • Masters or PhD in life sciences.
  • Extensive background in GMOs.
  • Solid technical background in researching and developing new biotechnology or synthetic biology products.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in understanding and applying biotechnology regulations, policies, and guidelines.
  • Proven experience in collaborating effectively with colleagues from diverse professional and personal backgrounds.
  • Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally, particularly to sub-Saharan Africa regions (up to 25% of the year).
  • Must be current US resident with unrestricted US work authorization.
